Zelensky noted that Orban has no right to put pressure on Putin, and that Ukraine needs direct relations with the United States.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he does not need intermediaries in his communication with the newly elected US President Donald Trump.

The head of state said this at a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities on December 17.

Zelensky reported that he had several meetings and conversations with Trump.

“Now is a transitional period in the United States. I am communicating with President Trump, we had several meetings, conversations. I don’t need intermediaries in this. There are various politicians who are PRing on this,” the president said.

In this context, the head of state mentioned Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, saying: “I will not let him and people like him in.”

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine needs direct relations with the United States.

“We need direct relations with the United States. We are a strong country, we showed it on the battlefield during all of Putin’s aggression. Does anyone in Europe have such a modern example? No. Orban has such an army? How will he put pressure on Putin? A joke? A smile? Let him keep it to himself,” the president said.

Zelensky also reported that active work is currently underway between his team and Trump’s team.

“This is still an acquaintance. He cannot answer many things from the point of view of his legal capabilities until the inauguration of the new US president. Until that happens, we are working with the White House, with President Biden. They are now increasing the number of decisions, packages. It is a pity that they are increasing this now, at the end of the term (of Biden – ed.),” the head of state noted.

He hopes that the Trump team will support Ukraine and not stop American assistance.

By the way, on December 9, Orban met with Trump in the United States, and on December 11, he had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In particular, Ukraine was discussed.

The Hungarian Prime Minister declared his interest in promoting “a joint search for ways to find a political and diplomatic solution” to the war.

In particular, the politicians touched on the topic of the war in Ukraine.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

It is alleged that Putin’s conversation with Orban took place at the initiative of the Hungarian Prime Minister.

The parties discussed economic cooperation between Russia and Hungary, as well as the war in Ukraine. Orban declared his interest in promoting “a joint search for ways to find a political and diplomatic solution” to the war, in particular by taking into account his contacts with Western leaders.

For his part, Putin complained about Kyiv’s “destructive line” that allegedly excludes the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

The Hungarian and Russian leaders also discussed the tense situation in the Middle East in the context of recent events in Syria.

Recall that on December 9, Orban met with US President-elect Donald Trump, businessman Elon Musk, and Trump’s future national security adviser Mike Waltz.
